To some extent, the 37S5500 is another successful Sony LCD TV. While it's certainly got its fair share of performance flaws, it's still better than the entry-level efforts of many rival brands.
That said, while I appreciate that hard currency isn't exactly very easy to come by these days, I really would urge you to try and save up for Sony's step-up V5500 model. For this delivers a much larger step-up in performance and features than you've any right to expect for its extra £100 or so asking price.Read full review
My friend was looking for a new TV, so i went with him, we looked at only those new entry-level TV's, like Sony KDL-37S5500, Samsung 32B460 and the LG 37LH2000
and seriously the Sony TV(1080p full HD) was cheaper and better then those two and with only 720p(Samsung 32B460 and LG 37LH2000)
you gave the design 7/10? i like the curved frame very much, awesome design less glossy, not like the new Samsung's horrible glass, very glossy "dust maker".
seriously, Sony were the first to make those glass design (KDL40X3500) it seems like samsung like to copy alot, and exaggerate with glass design.
anyways
as for the this Sony TV
Very good standard-definition upscaling, Very deep blacks, No undefeatable edge enhancement on 1080i/1080p, Settings can be saved independently for each input new fresh design.
Design: 9/10
Features 8/10
Image Quality 9/10
Sound Quality 8/10
Value 9/10
Overall 9/10

i saw this tv recently at my local sony store and i agree with the above poster concerning the outward appearance of it. Its very elegantly styled, closely resembling a picture frame with a glossy finnish only on the outside edge of the bezel and matt along the face.
