The SGH-U600 is a fairly accomplished phone. It certainly packs in lots of features. Samsung should have provided TV-out cables though and while the thin slider format is really appealing, the touch sensitive buttons are an absolute nuisance.
This is the worst phone i have ever had. i have had six over a space of one year with them being sent back. i wouldn't have it but i am on contract. my other mate has had eleven and i don't know anyone who has recommended this phone. i am chaging to the sony ericsson c902 because i am sick of samsung
I have tried this phone but sent it straight back. The touch 'buttons' are awful to use and it is very easy to make calls without knowing it. The problem is that if you are preparing to call or text it is not possible to rest your finger on the touch button without activating it. That seems obvious really, but how many times have you typed a text or selected a number and then checked it before sending/calling? I do this with my finger on the 'send' button which I then press when I'm ready to send or call. This doesen't work with a touch button. Its also really easy to either call or hangup whilst trying to use one of the menu settings instead, as the buttons are so close together its really easy to hit the wrong one. Bad Design. Try the J700 instead, its much easier to use and cheaper (camera is not as good though).
Lovely looking stylish phone, light weight and reasonable priced
Poor battery life, to many sub menus ,making it more complicated than it needs to be. Ring tones not loud enough.Touch sensitive screen far to sensitive OK on low (no1) setting, but i find you start making calls sometimes when you open the phone (keep call log clear) or are reading texts. Also its so sensitive that if you put a letter wrong in text, you find the whole message has gone and you have to start again.
I like the fact that you slide the phone shut to end a call and you cant make a call while its shut , my 1st and last experience of a samsung ? , but for the money i spent a its great phone and i wont feel to bad when i upgrade., just make sure you have the phone fully charged
I bought one of these 3 months ago as a short term replacement for my nokia 5310 which i broke. I,m due a new phone in november so I thought i'd buy this one as it was reasonably priced and equipped. How wrong was I? worst phone ive ever used, signal breaks up, cant hear anyone when talking to them, touch sensitive buttons are a nightmare, you would a degree in patience to send a text message, battery life is crap, are you getting the picture yet? This phone is so bad ive chucked it in a drawer and borrowed an old se w800i from my mate. Never again will I buy a samsung phone.
I disagree with previous comments - i quite liked this phone. I have had it for 2 years and it has only just broken; one simple broken connection in the back and the screen now flickers and turns itself upside down. What one must also bear in mind is that i am clumsy, and that this phone has put up with a LOT of abuse!
The touch buttons can be irritating at times, but all in all a quick flick down and up of the sliding bit fixes any accidental phonecalls and i simply got used to it. People complain on here because they just don't give themselves enough time to get used to it.
I had no signal problems, battery life has always been ok for me, and although the camera is slow the picture quality is pretty good. Personalised ringtones, backgrounds etc are nice and simple, as is all the PC-related software.
One thing that did annoy me was trying to hang up the phone when speakerphone was on during a call - you have to unlock the phone, turn off speakerphone mode, THEN shut the phone (as you would normally do to hang up). However, as i rarely used the speakerphone this hardly bothered me.
All in all i'd day this phone quite possibly doesn't compete with newer models out now, but when i bought it i was happy with it.
