With an integrated graphics card and middling 1600x900 display, the Samsung R730 isn't an ideal gaming companion, but if your demands are less intensive and you're after a big-screen laptop, this represents good value. Predictably, the battery is a weak point, lasting just a couple of hours, but is on-par with 17-inch rivals.

Why do Samsung persist with 10/100 LAN interfaces when it's probably only a couple of quid extra for gigabit? Haven't they seen the sizes of files that we have to move around these days? It seems like a pathetic attempt to get people to buy the next model up. Pah!
