The Aficio GX3000s is a big, robust, office inkjet, which certainly has the speed to warrant its place in a shortlist of colour laser replacements. Text quality is not nearly as good as a typical laser, however, and is pushed to keep its place among other inkjets, too. The 300dpi scanner (600dpi only in black and white) is just enough for OCR, but colour copies lack definition. If print speed is the prime factor in your choice, this machine may still rate, but if it's print quality you're looking for, you should try elsewhere.

A number pad isn't useless because of the lack of fax facilities - presumably it can be used to set the number of copies or scaling options without having to scroll through a list of values, it no doubt has some other uses as well - in a small office where this might be the main copy machine it's no doubt a time saver to have the number pad available.

Ive just bought one of these for the office and think its a great printer, the whole Ricoh GX range is really very good. I bought it from clickcopy.com very happy with them!
