Summary

Our Score:

8

Here are some general test shots to help evaluate the camera's overall image quality, including the zoom range of the lens. Some pictures may be clicked to download the full size original image

----

The wide-angle end is equivalent to 36mm, OK for snapshots not very wide compared to many other current compacts.

----

The other end of the zoom range is a useful 180mm, good for medium telephoto shots. Note that this shot was taken under auto ISO, which is set at 800.

----

Dynamic range could be better. Highlights are burned out and shadows are murky.

You gave the M50 8/10, but this M60 gets 7/10 for image quality. Is the lens and hardware all that different?

Can you recommend something similar (or not too much more expensive) which *isn't* glacially slow to autfocus? I am looking for a cheap-ish compact, don't need any bells or whistles, but the one crucial feature is that it must be able to focus (relatively well, even in low-ish light) fairly quickly. My wife's main complaint with our first digital (a Canon S45) was that, by the time it had focussed and taken the shot, the subject had moved.

Casio's ultra-compacts are excellent value for money, and have very fast autofocus.
