The Pentax Optio E30 has little to recommend it besides its price. Build quality and handling are of an acceptable standard, but performance and features do not match up to similarly priced models from other brands. Optical quality is good, but let down by limited dynamic range and poor noise control at all but the lowest sensitivity.

I was surprised that your review of the Optio E30 was so negative. I've had one for over a year now, and have been quite pleased with its performance. One feature that no one seems to mention is the possibility of recording sound alone, so that the camera becomes a digital "tape" recorder that's excellent for speech and even not bad for music.
