Our Score:

User Score:

Here are some general test shots to help evaluate the camera's overall image quality, including the zoom range of the lens. Some pictures may be clicked to download the full size original image.

The wide angle end is equivalent to 25mm, better than average for a pocket compact.

The telephoto end is equivalent to 125mm.

As usual for a 12MP compact the dynamic range isn't brilliant.

The light meter copes well with backlighting.

Bought my FX500 after the TR review and have been very pleased with it. Recently I got the instruction book out again as I realised I had slipped into using only i-Auto and had no idea about the rest or what i-Auto was deciding for me! Now, I can use all the bits again :) It is a very versatile & well built camera that can do quick snapshots or the more arty stuff whilst fitting a pocket/belt pouch.

Had an FX500 for 18 months or so. Was generally pleased with it, but somehow dust has got into lens / sensor (despite being carefully looked after) with no obvious way of cleaning it.

The "Exeter cathedral" picture it doesn't look very sharp...
