You get a lot for your money with the X70 CA Pro, making it all the more disappointing that silly build issues prevent it from winning an award. It's still and excellent option, though, particularly if you want a powerful desktop replacement in a smaller footprint. And, Crysis aside, it will run games at high settings with smooth frame rates - anything more requires SLI and over £2,000 to spare.

Yeah, number one rule with gaming laptops is that you don't ever use it without a wall connection. I don't think this will change in the near future. But who knows with fuel cells and more power efficient electronic components, things can only get better I guess.

Question - how quiet is this thing on lowest settings? I have a Clevo D900K that sounds like a hovercraft in a windtunnel, which isn't ideal if you're just surfing on the sofa (with other people in the room!). There was a gaming laptop recently which had a 'silent' switch to basically clock it down so low that the fans stayed off - I'd love to see gaming laptops adopt this widely.
