By Cliff Smith

Our Score:

Here are some general test shots to help evaluate the camera's overall image quality, including dynamic range, colour rendition and the zoom range of the lens. Some pictures may be clicked to download the full size original image.

Wide angle is equivalent to 35mm, about average for a 3x zoom compact.

Telephoto end is equivalent to 105mm, again, average for the class.

Colour reproduction is good, although the yellows are a bit overcooked.

Dynamic range is very limited.

The same shot with D-Lighting applied; not much better.

I have to say this is a great camera - I have the plum model, and yes it gets some looks because I'm a 5'11" guy. hehe Here is my Flickr Group for this model: http://www.flickr.com/group... -- It really does take great photos - you have to adjust to it like you even have to adjust to a DSLR.

The review for this camera is not accurate as there is one major difference between the s200 and s225, besides the colour. The s225 is compatible with HCSD cards and the s200 is not. This means that the s225 can have memory cards that have a higher capacity than 2gb but the s200 cant have more that a 2gb memory card.
