When purchased, the setup wizard failed repeatedly. After an hour on the phone to India to someone who could not speak or hear me, it was determined that the software provided with the hardware was not compatible (after figuring out that it had nothing to do with my XP operating system). I manually logged into the IP for the router and set it. One month later, I began getting intermittent signal drops. I tried to reset the system and again contacted India for support. After another hour on the phone, their diagnosis was that my cable modem has a problem. The cable modem is fine, and I could tie into it directly without a problem. The cable modem has a dynamic IP, so if the router can not handle that - then why does it claim that it can? I bought a LinkSys wireless router and was up and running in 10 minutes. The older model LinkSys supposedly has a shorter range, but in fact the signal is just as good all over the house as the Netgear system was when it worked.
ISSUES:
1 - Software incompatible with hardware, had to contact support and manually set up
2 - Hardware began to fail after one month
3 - Technical support difficult to understand and not capable of figuring out problems - like to blame it on something else.
I use it with both G and N gear (MacBooks (N), iPhones (G), Wii (G)).
You want to run it in simultaneous mode if you want to get the best perfomance for your N stuff from it. Running it in single mode, 2.4 GHz only, will drop everything down to the performance of your G rated equipment.
