LG GD510 Pop video review

Read the full LG GD510 Pop review

With its small body and neat design, the LG GD510 Pop could have been a great low-cost touchscreen phone and certainly it's the best device of this type that LG has yet produced so if you've liked its previous designs, it's well worth considering. However, for most users we feel LG has simply cut too many corners in the hardware, rendering the relatively large touch screen essentially pointless. Ultimately, on a phone this basic, we'd rather have a sturdier design with some proper buttons for text entry.

I can't imagine that battery test gives very accurate and comparable results. The number of bars on most phones I've seen has only a faint relation to the actual remaining battery life. (And from what I've heard, this is by design.) Even a full percentage isn't very accurate, since the conversion from the voltage level is not exact. A more accurate test would run until the battery gives out. Ideally, charge it fully and do each activity (calls, music, video, ...) until the battery is empty. I guess that's a bit much to ask, though.

£230? I've seen this mobile phone in both Phones4U and Car Phone Warehouse for £99!

It is a good looking phone but I have been told that the OS isn't very good at all I can't help think if LG had put android on it they would have a really good looking phone and a good OS at a very good price

@Jay I agree, the size of this phone is exactly what I am looking for (the iPhone ect are just too big IMO for me to carry round all the time), I just wish that it had Android on it.

I really think that there is a market for a smaller Android phone than what is out there at the moment, rather than pushing 4" screens ect the manufacturers should think about bringing out something a bit smaller IMO

They're having a laugh if they want £230 for this - no WiFi or 3G??

Nokia 5530 - only slightly bigger, not 3G but does have WiFi, 640x360 touch screen and proper Symbian smartphone OS. Currently going for £99 unlocked (but you have to buy a pre-pay SIM and topup) in CPW.

The stated price must be wrong. This phone is a slightly updated KP501 Cookie. A while ago TR reported that LG would start to use Android, starting (oddly) with the KS360. Wonder what happened to that?

This is a good looking phone, but to be frank I've had many problems with it. It often freezes, once for three days. It's a pain if you phone somewhere where you need to use the number board, ie press 1 for this option type calls as you have to activate keyboard each time. Volume/silent options seem to have mind of their own too. My view is it's too fancy for it's own good and I'm glad I didn't pay anything for it quite frankly. On the positive side it looks good and games are quite fun.
