Good review as per usual John. I'm in the market for a new TV and find your articles a useful tool.

This TV would have been great had it not been for the lack of an Ethernet port. Why is it so hard for TV makers to understand? We want to stream movies. There is a big future for connecting TV to your network/internet. Anyone releasing a TV that ignores this demand is quite plainly stupid.

Any chance you could introduce input lag figures into future reviews? This is an extremely important consideration for gamers. Just look at AVForums to see how many people want a TV that has low input lag.

nice review, as another person who is searching around for a new tv, i seem to be drifting towards an LED LCD tv, and on this basic, who has the better offering, this LG tv or the samsung series 7/8?

Anyone in the market for a telly shouldn't follow Metalex's advice and visit the AVForums - you'll always find someone with what they think are deal breaking negative comments on every single model and you'll never be able to make your mind up!!!

Im dying of waiting the new LED Samsung XL2370 Monitor review, cuz i prefer monitors to TV sets but this one should it have no dark bars at all so you can attached another tv set right next to it and increase the view size with a videocard with dual DVI output...21/9 any1?

The 42SL9000 certainly rates as a good LED LCD TV debut for LG, and its design and price will doubtless - deservedly - win it plenty of fans. But at the same time it gets just enough wrong to remind us that it is indeed a debut product, while one or two other brands are now on to their second generation of LED machines.
