Fujifilm FinePix Z100fd - Test shots - Exposure evaluation

By Cliff Smith

Our Score:

Here are some general test shots to help evaluate the camera's overall image quality, including the zoom range of the lens. Some pictures may be clicked to download the full size original image.

This was taken at the wide-angle end of the zoom, equivalent to 36mm.

The telephoto end of the 5x zoom is equivalent to 180mm.

Colour reproduction is good, but I think the lens was a bit dirty for this shot, a permanent hazard given its position.

This high-contrast shot shows purple fringing along the dark edges.

The Auction mode produces a composite shot ideal for websites such as eBay.

Bought this camera on the basis of this review...

What a big mistake...Its rubbish..

grainy noisy pics across all settings and pictures distorted

dark shades are extremly blotchy

sent back to Fujifilm Uk for 'repairs' returned with no noticible inprovment at all

Response time from service center is horrendous!!

our old Finepics F810 far better

Dont waste your money on this one.

I wish I'd seen Ratanje's comments before I asked for this as a present last year as the comments are spot on. This was supposed to be an upgrade from an old Konica Minolta Dimage Xg (another compact folded lens type camera), and I wish I hadn't bothered: grainy photos, distorted pictures, a big let down.

I'm on here now looking for a replacement as I can't stand using it, looking at my old Dimage and asking why had I ever bothered 'upgrading'.

Don't buy this, even as a used camera (unless you see mine on e-bay, that is!)
