Canon IXUS 980 IS - Test Shots - ISO Performance

Over the next few pages we show a range of test shots. On this page the full size image at the minimum and maximum ISO settings have been reduced to let you see the full image, and a series of full resolution crops have taken from original images at a range of ISO settings to show the overall image quality. The pictures were taken outdoors in overcst daylight.

Here's the full frame at 80 ISO.

At 80 ISO the image is nice and clean with no noise.

Still no noise at 100 ISO.

There is a little noise in the darker areas at 200 ISO, but it is well controlled.

Much the same result at 400 ISO.

More noise at 800 ISO, but colour reproduction remains unaffected and there is still good detail.

Detail is fading at 1600 ISO, but the image is still printable, which is impressive for a 14MP camera.
