The price puts the 221 firmly in the professional surveillance bracket but it is offering a lot of sophisticated features for your money. Image quality is extremely good, it can handle any light level and, although bandwidth consumption can be excessive, is does offer some of the highest frame rates we’ve yet seen in a network camera.

This thing is a beast! Excellent image quality, although the resolution is starting to be overtaken by more modern cameras now, and total reliability. The motion detection control is superb. The Low light/IR performance is spot on with the DC Iris control and once you have set up the focus you can leave this alone for years.

One fly in the ointment is that it will not reject flare from strong light sources and car headlights at night will white out the image, but that is a pretty extreme scenario.

Recommended for outdoor 24hr surveillance, especially in conjunction with the Axis IR light sources.
