I bought one of these from QVC about a month ago and found this a very usable piece of tech. Iv'e ripped many films to it Will Hay, Laurel and Hardy and others (just shows how old I am) with no problems.
Yes, the UI isn't as nice as the iDIOT POD, but it works well enough for someone with half a brain cell and I find all my music downloads without much fuss (good ol' beemp3).
I asked Archos what the player's SNR (sound to noise ratio) and THD (total harmonic distortion) were and I was told that they did not give out that information!
Also seems a bit weird that they support FLAC, and lossless codec, that appeals to audiophiles, but not Replay Gain.
These two issues, combined with many poor interface reports, means that this will not be replacing my trusty old Samsung YP5.
