As a mid-range card, the AMD ATI Radeon HD 5770 was never going to set new records but it doesn't skimp on features and delivers as much performance as we'd expect at its price point.
It's a shame this card is noisy, it would be a great option for an HTPC otherwise.
Have you tested the HD audio output over HDMI? A patched version of PowerDVD is supposed to handle DTS HD / Dolby TrueHD in bitstream over HDMI at 24p on the 58xx family. It would be interesting to know if it works as expected, until we find out if nVidia delivers something equivalent with the 3xx serie. Maybe a passive cooling version will fit the bill?
If it's one thing that drives me away from cards, no matter how powerful they might be, it's the noise level. These things need to be made absolutely silent.
Sapphire do a Vapor-X version which claims to be a lot quieter if that's any help. It is about £20 more but that's cheaper than buying a quiet third party cooler.
